Legal Assistants

Laura Catherine McCrary was born in Tallahassee, Florida. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Classics with a concentration in Greek and Latin and a minor in Spanish from Georgetown University.  Laura Catherine also spent a year abroad studying Classical Languages and Culture at the University of Bristol in England.  She is interested in a variety of areas of law, and plans to attend law school in the coming years.

Isaac Morales was born in Riverside, CA. He earned a B.A. in Politics and a B.A. in Social and Cultural Analysis – Latino Studies from New York University in 2016. Isaac has traveled to Puerto Rico, Israel, and France as an ambassador of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Scholars program at NYU. With a passion in international and immigration law and policy, Isaac seeks to attend law school in the coming years. He is a native English and Spanish speaker (being the son of Mexican immigrants), is fluent in Portuguese and French, and would love to learn more languages.

Soyeon Kim was raised in Portland, Oregon before moving to New Jersey in 2008. In 2016, she obtained a B.A. in Communication with a minor in African and African Diaspora Studies from Boston College. As the daughter of a Korean father and Japanese mother, Soyeon is not only trilingual, but also particularly interested in learning about the dynamics between different cultures. In her free time, Soyeon enjoys watching movies, attending sporting events, and playing with children.

Christa Coryea was born in Connecticut. She earned a B.A. in Honours East Asian Studies from McGill University in 2013, where she completed a thesis about Zainichi Korean literature. She spent one year studying abroad at Kyoto University, and returned to Japan after graduation to teach in Osaka for three years. She is a native English speaker and is proficient in Japanese. She enjoys reading and traveling abroad.

Jasmine Chen is currently in the process of earning her B.A. in Political Science with a minor in Economics from Barnard College, Columbia University. Jasmine is passionate about Chinese and Taiwanese politics and is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and conversational in French. In her free time, she enjoys scuba diving, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, watching film and going to contemporary art galleries. Jasmine plans on attending law school in the near future.

Julia Paranyuk is originally from Scarsdale, New York. She is a junior at NYU in the College of Arts & Sciences Presidential Scholars Program, majoring in Politics on the Pre-Law track. As the daughter of immigrants, Julia has a passion for immigration and a desire to pursue a career in law. Julia is fluent in Russian and English, and hopes to expand her language skills through further coursework at NYU. Upon graduating from NYU in 2018, Julia hopes to continue her education by attending law school.

Isabelle Nozari is currently a second-year undergraduate student at NYU. She is majoring in Politics with minors in Business Studies and Spanish. Born in Sweden, she moved to the United States at the age of four and spent the majority of her life in the greater Boston area. Given her firsthand experience with the immigration process, she is passionate about immigration law and hopes to attend law school in the future. She is deeply involved in Model United Nations at NYU and serves as a chair in their various conferences. She also enjoys cooking, traveling, and learning about other cultures. She speaks fluent Persian, Spanish, French, and some Swedish.
